Today was busy for the pet food pantry.
Marie packed up two deliveries for our volunteer driver, Renee. She does two runs – first she took food for 100 folx to Regent Square to be distributed to nine mutual aid distros next week.
Then she returned to Manchester to pick up her regular route of 14 Northsiders.
Meanwhile, a few blocks away Sue and Tabby were busy organizing Gertie to accommodate hundreds of completed whistle kits and still have room to wiggle out the pet food. A local street outreach program will be stopping by to pick up 150 pounds of food that they will repack and distribute.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Marie will prepare distributions for Todd (25 households) and Terri (5 households.) Terri is having surgery in July so she’s going to double-up this month to ensure no one misses out and not add work for the other volunteers.
Earlier in the week, Jannie stopped by to help coral an ornery cat and transported food from Marie’s to my house and then another load back up again. Gertie isn’t quite ready to run so this was a big help.
On Monday, Amy picks up for 12 Northside households.
Tomorrow, I’m packaging whistle kits up to ship to various LGBTQ organizations. Tabby is folding whistle kit zines and tackling a large tangle of lanyards we picked up from Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse.
